House at Mountnorth

English
Gaeilge
The L-shaped plan of the house creates private south facing garden that captures the sun. The positioning of the internal circulation for the house around this garden space was inspired by a visit to the friaries at Kilcrea and Kilmallock. A recessed entry porch creates shelter from the elements while creating a transition from exterior to interior. The formal arrangement of the fenestration on the front façade is a design reference to the layout of the fenestration on the classical middle size Irish house. The simple form of the house takes its reference from vernacular farmhouse buildings.
Déanann plean L-Cruthaithe an tí gairdín príobháideach ódheas a ghabhann solas na gréine. Bhí suíomh imshruthú taobh istigh den tí mórthimpeall spás an gairdín spreagtha ag cuairt chuig na mainistreacha i gCill Chré agus Cill Mocheallóg. Cruthaíonn póirse slí isteach cuasaithe scáthlán ó na eilimintí agus ag cruthú athrú ón taobh amuigh go dtí an taobh istigh. Is tagairt dearadh an leagan amach formiúil na bhfuinneoga ar an aghaidh chun tosaigh chuig leagan amach na fuinneoga ar teach Éireannach claisicaech mean méiditithe. Tógann foirm simplí an tí a tagairt ó sciobail féirme dúchasacha.
